History

Over 44 years we've evolved from a $1,000 start up business into a $20+ billion technology services industry leader. Our people, and their passion, deserve the credit. After all they pioneered practices that are now centrepieces of the IT services industry, including systems management, systems integration, centralised transaction processing and the world's largest private digital voice, data and video network.

This spirit of innovation continues today, with the evolution of our services into an intelligent network foundation. We're one of the key drivers of online commerce through digital supply chain management, enabling product development over the Internet and developing security and privacy services.

Amongst many milestones we were also the first to develop:

• A method for using ATMs to transfer and deliver cash
• An automatic code generator (INCA) that freed programmers to concentrate on higher-order problems by generating millions of lines of routine code
• A text-analysis tool that assesses documents' relevance to specific search criteria
• A device that automatically sorts airline tickets
